Top Afrikaans artists show their support for Pretoria at AfriForum Music Festival

Top Afrikaans artists show their support for Pretoria at AfriForum Music Festival

Steve Hofmeyr, Liza Brönner and other top Afrikaans singers will show their support for Pretoria’s name at a concert which will take place at the Voortrekker Monument from 07:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, 2 November. The music festival takes place during a campaign by the Tshwane Metro Council to change Pretoria’s name. AfriForum is organising this Afrikaans Music Festival to celebrate Pretoria’s 158th birthday.
Entry is free and no reservations are necessary.

According to Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum, it is important that as many people as possible show up to indicate their support for Pretoria’s name.

He invited the public to bring along friends – and folding chairs – to enjoy the day.
The following artists will be on stage: Steve Hofmeyr, Liza Brönner, Adam Tas, Gerrie Pretorius, Pieter Smith, Saarkie, Die Tuindwergies, Jaco Labuschagne, Fredi Nest, Vaughan Gardiner, Ghapi, Beeskraal and Fanie Botha’s boereorkes.
Both gates to the Voortrekker Monument (Eeufees and Smuts Ave) will be open from 05:00 to prevent traffic jams. Food and beverages will be sold at the venue. No alcohol may be brought in. Call AfriForum at 086 10 200 30 or visit the website at www.afriforum.co.za for more information.
